Top 5 Stars In Entertainment: Addy Davis, Ed Thorp, Tiffany Haddish, and more

The world of entertainment is diverse and rapidly evolving. Actors, singers, gamers, writers, or journalists — there’s always a name the public curiously observes. The biggest entertainment trends include TV and movie streaming, social media, and listening to music — and, of course, online gambling.

The latter spawned some stars in recent years. It’s especially popular in countries like Canada, the USA, Australia, the UK, France, and Poland (you can test your luck in Total Casino, for instance.)

Within entertainment, there’s a variety of tournaments in gambling — especially on the Polish market. In 2020, the market secured almost 5 billion EUR worth of revenue — bigger than on the markets of Slovakia and Russia. Casino owners and players in the country should comply with the regulations for real-life establishments and sportsbooks — in return, Poland ensures full gamblers’ protection. Tournaments add more fun to gambling — players get prizes along with money and gain status among other competitors.

Passion for casino games is what helps gamblers become well-known. Such famous poker players as Wiktor Malinowski and Michael Gracz started when they were young. They played regularly and learned strategy during games, which earned them recognition.

Let’s discover more about the brightest stars from this and other industries.

Eddy Davis — Jazz Star

Let’s start with music. Eddy Davis was more than just a jazz musician — he was a legend. He composed, sang, acted, and played other musical instruments besides banjo.

Davis played at some of the biggest concert halls in the world. Many television shows, including NBC’s The Tonight Show, featured Davis talking about his diverse, bright career. The artist produced music for Woody Allen’s movies Radio Days and Midnight in Paris, and the latter earned him a Grammy Award. In 2018, Davis performed at the New York Jazz Festival. This is one of the biggest jazz events in the US. It gathers the most notable musicians to celebrate the jazz community.

Ed Thorp — A Person That Has Beaten the House

Edward Thorp is famous for his unique approach to casino gambling. Aged 7, Thorp was able to cognitively calculate the number of seconds in a year. His passion and capabilities for mathematics produced incredible results and later turned into a strong desire to explore gambling math. He spent days playing blackjack. He meticulously researched the winning probabilities and developed card counting schemes. Then, Thorp tested his theories at local casinos in Reno, Lake Tahoe, and Las Vegas. During trips there, he developed a wearable computer. It could predict the winning numbers on a roulette table. The device produced other strategies that helped players win as well. As of now, wearable computers within casinos are illegal — back then, Thorp’s device that was able to calculate how much time a ball will spend on roulette and where to place the bet gave him a 44% edge over the house. That earned him trust, admiration, and lots of money.

Thorp wrote a book called Beat the Dealer — there, he described the roulette wearables in detail. He also wrote on how to defeat the house advantage in blackjack. Gamblers loved it. Thorp himself quit gambling after the book’s success. He claimed that financial earnings were never his main goal — he went to casinos for fun and entertainment. Instead, he focused on academic research and its value for others. Thorp played blackjack for fun in the first place.

Tiffany Haddish — Actress You Never Forget

Tiffany Haddish grew up taking care of her younger siblings when her mother worked nights. As a teenager, she got into foster care after her mother got sick because of a car accident. She discovered a passion for acting at 17 years. She joined Laugh Factory Comedy Camp and realized that comedy was her way of self-expression.

She debuted in The Urban Demographic in 2005. A year after, Haddish took over network TV and acted in My Name is Earl, then Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes, and then, finally, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Over the last decade, she regularly appeared in feature films and on TV shows as a guest. A comedy film that made her gain the spotlight was Girls Trip (2017). Afterward, she received multiple opportunities to play alongside some well-known actors like Halle Berry and Kevin Hart, — and played her dream role of Whoopi Goldberg’s daughter Tanya in Nobody’s Fool.

Salehi Takhasomi — Person Who Knows Everyone In DotA World

Also known as KuroKy, Salehi Takhasomi earned himself quite a reputation professionally playing Dota 2. Takhasomi has limited mobility, so looking for something he could engage with, he chose video games.

He started playing DotA at the age of 16 and soon joined a few German teams. Later, Takhasomi became part of the international team with other popular players. He first publicly appeared in Dota 2 at The International 2011. In 2013, Salehi joined Natus Vincere and, with them, won first place multiple times at The International 2013

During his career, the gamer earned $4 million and founded his organization called Nigma. At 28, Salehi became the first player to ever achieve 1,000 wins in his gaming career. After seeing terrific success, Takhasomi is likely to gain even more fame and profits.

Oprah Winfrey — Journalist Legend

Oprah’s name has been known across the media for a long time. Having gone through some tough times as an adolescent, she became a celebrity and self-made billionaire.

Oprah started her career as a chat show host in 1976. She worked in People Are Talking for eight years, moving on to host her morning show A.M. Chicago. By that time, the show got the highest rating a show could get in the history of US television. In 1986, the world saw The Oprah Winfrey Show and it quickly became a hit.

After only one year, the show brought $125 million of revenue with 10 million viewers. Oprah soon gained full control of the show. She started leading her production unit, Harpo Productions. Winfrey also launched a book club and a leadership academy for girls in South Africa. She also got a Presidential Medal of Freedom and became the first black person who got a revenue of $1 million (and that was just a start).
